Specialist in Safety and Health Certificate Program

General Information

The Specialist in Safety and Health certificate is our entry level professional certificate program.  This program is designed to provide a general overview of safety and health topics, as well as a deeper dive into a select group of topics relevant to the area of specialization chosen.  The SSH certificate can be earned in as little as 6 months.

To earn this entry level professional designation, simply enroll in the SSH certificate program and complete the course requirements for the specialization option you select. Four options are available, including Construction, General Industry, Healthcare, or Occupational Safety.

Courses are taught by Western OSHA Education Center instructors and DEWSC faculty and staff (full time and adjunct) that are experts in their fields. Participants hear from industry leaders with real world experience.  OSHA numbered courses may be transferred in from another OTI Education Center*, however we require that at least half of the courses be completed at the Western OSHA Education Center for us to grant the certificate.

This professional certificate can be earned as a standalone credential, or as a step towards the Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO) credential. Download more information using the links on this page, or contact oti.asu@asu.edu.

Note that requirements are subject to change without notice and an applicant's specific requirements are those that are in effect at the time the Application for Professional Certificate is approved.

*transfer of courses is subject to the terms and condition of the program policies
